One dead and several injured in Mont-Laurier crash in the Laurentians

A man in his 60s is dead and several people were injured, some of them seriously, after a head-on collision between two vehicles Sunday morning in Mont-Laurier, in the Laurentians.

According to Quebec provincial police spokesperson Béatrice Dorsainville, the crash happened around 10:45 a.m. on Highway 107 near the intersection with Highway 117 in Mont-Laurier.

One of the vehicles veered out of its lane for reasons that remain unknown.

In total, seven people were involved and three of them suffered serious injuries.

The driver of one of the cars died after being taken to hospital, and the front-seat passenger in the vehicle, also in her 60s, as well as a young girl in the back seat, were seriously injured and their lives are in danger.

Dorsainville told The Canadian Press that Highway 107 is closed and that a detour is possible via Highway 117.

A reconstructionist is on site to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
