NDG sinkhole causing road closures, detours

A sinkhole appeared on May 4, 2025 at the corner of Mariette and Somerled Avenue in Montreal's CDN-NDG borough.

A sinkhole is forcing detours in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough Sunday night.

The road collapse is at the intersection of Mariette Avenue and Somerled Avenue.

There are several road closures and detours in the area as city officials work to determine what caused the incident.

In a statement to CTV News, the city office said, “we are reducing the water pressure in the area in order to identify the leak that may have caused the subsidence of the roadway.”
