Hidden camera in public washroom: Police seek male suspect after Westmount incident

Montreal police (SPVM) are asking the public for help in locating a suspect in connection with a voyeurism incident that occurred in Westmount on May 27.

According to the SPVM, at about 1:30 p.m., the victim and her friends went to a coffee shop near Claremont Avenue and Sherbrooke Street West. They used the washroom for people with reduced mobility and noticed a small object hidden under the sink.

The object turned out to be a concealed surveillance camera equipped with a microSD card.

The SPVM said an analysis of the card revealed several videos showing people of all ages using the washroom. The suspect also appears several times in the footage installing and moving the camera.

The suspect is a man about 30 years old with a medium complexion and has a shaved head or could be bald with a dark beard. He has a tattoo covering his entire left arm and wears a black ring on his left ring finger. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue cap with a white “LA” logo.

The SPVM has released four screenshots taken from the hidden camera that may help identify the suspect.

A $3,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest. Police say certain conditions apply.
