Montreal police asking witnesses to come forward after fatal hit-and-run

Montreal police officers will set up a mobile information booth on Friday at the scene of a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 52-year-old pedestrian last month.

Shortly before 1 a.m. on April 26, a driver was heading east on Goyer Street, near Darlington Avenue in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough, when they struck a man who was crossing the street. The driver allegedly fled the scene, driving the wrong way down Darlington Avenue.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Wednesday, police said investigators will return to the intersection on Friday between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. to encourage anyone who has information that has not yet been reported to come forward.

Police also released a photo of a car that is similar to the one believed to be involved in the collision. The wanted vehicle is a 2006 to 2011 four-door Honda Civic.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue to search for the driver. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 911 or their local police station.
