Montreal drivers: It’s April 1, and that means parking ticket season is back

Montreal’s seasonal street parking regulations return Wednesday, April 1, and drivers who don’t follow the signage can expect to face a fine.

The street parking bans, which run April 1 to Dec. 1 in most boroughs, allow the city to carry out cleaning operations.

The alternating parking system means one side of a given residential street is restricted on certain days and times, with the other side restricted on different days — schedules vary street by street.

When reading parking signs, look for arrows: one pointing toward the road marks the start of a restriction, and one pointing toward the sidewalk marks the end. At all times, take note: If you don’t have a resident parking permit, make sure you’re not in a restricted zone before parking your car.
