Montreal blue-collar workers to strike for one day on Feb. 4

Montreal blue-collar workers have announced a one-day strike on Feb. 4.

The strike is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Feb. 4 and end at 5:59 a.m. on Feb. 5, the Syndicat des cols bleus regroupés de Montréal announced on Friday.

This local 301 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), affiliated with the FTQ, represents 6,600 members.

Wages are the main point of contention, with the city facing significant financial challenges and blue-collar workers refusing to see their incomes decline.

The collective agreement expired on Dec. 31, 2024.
