Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge and La Fontaine Tunnel will close this weekend

The Quebec Transport Ministry (MTQ) said that two main access points to the Island of Montreal will close this weekend.

Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge completely closed

The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge connecting the Island of Montreal with Vaudreuil-Dorion will close on the weekend.

Starting on Friday at midnight and ending Monday at 5 a.m., the bridge along Highway 40 will close to “implement a new configuration of Highway 40 lanes in Senneville, which will allow for the continuation of slab reconstruction.”

The westbound span of the highway will close from the Morgan Boulevard exit (44) to the Saint-Charles Avenue entrance.

Access to Senneville Road at exit 44 will be possible.

The eastbound span will close between the Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Saint-Charles Avenue exit (35) and the Veterans Boulevard entrance.

The Highway 40 eastbound ramp to the bridge in the Highway 40/30 junction will also be closed.

The ministry said tolls will be suspended in both directions on Highway 30.

As of Dec. 1, the following configuration will be in place:

• Traffic lanes on Highway 40 will be diverted to the westbound service road in Senneville.
• Exit 40 (Senneville Road) from Highway 40 westbound will be reopened.
• Exit 41 (Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Anciens-Combattants Boulevard) from Highway 40 eastbound will be relocated at the bridge exit, at Senneville Road.
• The entrance from Senneville Road to Highway 40 eastbound will be permanently closed.
• Users will be able to access the highway via the next entrance at Pins Street.

Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel closures

From Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the Montreal-bound span of Highway 20 (including the tunnel) will close between Exit 90 (Highway 20 West, Route 132, La Prairie, USA, Varennes, P.-E.-Trudeau Airport) and the entrance from Sherbrooke Street East.

Heading towards the South Shore, the highway will be closed from Friday at 11 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m., between exit no. 4 (Montreal [downtown], Jacques-Cartier Bridge) and the entrance from Île Charron.

Starting Dec. 1, there will be a new configuration on the Highway 25 northbound.

The MTQ is asking drivers to respect the rules of the road, particularly the speed limit in work zones.

All work may be postponed due to weather or operational constraints.
