Here’s how much you will be taxed in Quebec in 2026

In addition to the new federal brackets, some tax changes are coming to Quebec in 2026.

In revealing the main modifications for next year, Revenu Québec explains that the indexation rate for its personal income tax system is set to drop to 2.05 per cent in 2026 in Quebec, down from 2.85 per cent the previous year.

That means the rate will remain below three per cent for the second year in a row, unlike in 2023 and 2024.

The government maintains that the measure is meant to “protect the purchasing power of Quebecers,” and could represent a tax relief of more than $863 million for taxpayers.

“Indexing benefits under social assistance programs will provide Quebec’s most disadvantaged residents with nearly $68 million in additional financial assistance,” according to the government’s website.

The new indexation rate is set to apply as of Jan. 1, 2026.

Personal tax credits will also increase slightly, by 2.07 per cent.

Tax brackets for 2026

The amount of tax Quebecers will be asked to pay will depend on their annual income:

• Income below $54,345 will be taxed at 14 per cent.
• Income between $54,345 and $108,680 will be taxed at 19 per cent.
• Income between $108,680 and $132,245 will be taxed at 24 per cent.
• Income above $132,245 will be taxed at 25.75 per cent.

Contributions to various plans

Quebec Pension Plan (QPP)

Amount of eligible earnings not exceeding maximums under the QPP for 2026:

• Maximum eligible earnings: $74,600
• General exemption: $3,500
• Maximum contributory earnings: $71,100
• Contribution rate (i.e., the basic contribution rate of 5.30 per cent and the first additional contribution rate of one per cent): 6.30 per cent
• Maximum employee contribution: $4,479.30
• Maximum employer contribution (per employee): $4,479.30

Amount of eligible salary exceeding maximum pensionable earnings for the QPP for 2026:

• Additional maximum pensionable earnings: $85,000
• Maximum pensionable earnings: $74,600
• Additional maximum contributory earnings: $10,400
• Second additional contribution rate: four per cent
• Maximum second additional employee contribution: $416
• Maximum second additional employer contribution (per employee): $416

Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP)

• Maximum insurable earnings: $103,000
• Employee contribution rate: 0.430 per cent
• Maximum employee contribution: $442.90

For 2026, the maximum remuneration subject to labour standards contributions for an employee is $103,000.

Other changes announced

Among the changes announced, the maximum amount of a worker’s deduction is increasing by $30, from $1,420 to $1,450.

This is the same a

mount as the maximum exemption granted to an individual volunteer participating in emergency services.

Revenu Québec notes that the threshold for determining the method used to calculate income tax deductions on gratuities and retroactive payments is $18,952.
