Goodbye Claude Jutra. Welcome to Ethel Stark park

Claude Jutra park is being renamed after a musical pioneer.

The late Quebec screenwriter had streets and parks named after him to recognize his work in developing Quebec's film and TV industry, but in February his name was disgraced when several people came forward to accuse Jutra of being a pedophile.

The Quebec Cinema agency quickly moved to strip Jutra's name from their award ceremony, and cities across the province also decided to erase his name from maps.

Now Montreal is naming the park at the corner of Clark and Prince Arthur Sts. after Ethel Stark, the founder of the Montreal Women's Symphony Orchestra.

A lifelong Montrealer, Stark was made a member of the Order of Canada in 1979, and became a grand officer of the Order of Quebec in 2003.

Stark was 101 years old when she died in 2012.
