Parents of 11-year-old who died following carbon monoxide leak file lawsuit

The parents of 11-year-old Henry Losco who died from carbon monoxide poisoning are suing four companies tied to the apartment building. Jacob Carr reports.

The parents of an 11-year-old who died following an apartment carbon monoxide leak have filed a lawsuit.

Marina Halls and Sergio Losco filed a lawsuit at Court of King’s Bench on May 29.

Named in the lawsuit as defendants are Anderson Holdings Inc., Anderson Builders 1989 Inc., Skyward Living Properties Inc., and Ariston Canada Inc.

Each party named in the lawsuit is involved with the upkeep of the apartment building where the incident happened.

Ariston Canada is responsible for the manufacturing of the apartment building’s boilers, while Anderson Holdings, Anderson Builders, and Skyward Living Properties are responsible for the ownership, renovation, and property management, respectively, of the building where the fatality occurred.

The statement of claim reads that on Jan. 30, 2026, Regina Fire Chief Layne Jackson publicly confirmed that the carbon monoxide leak that caused Henry Losco’s death was caused by a critical failure in a boiler at the premises.

The claim also states that prior to Losco’s death on Dec. 19, 2025, multiple residents in the building complained to the defendants, including Skyward Living, regarding issues with carbon monoxide detectors in the building.

The statement goes on to state that the defendants failed to investigate and correct the source of the carbon monoxide, arrange for professional inspection of the building’s mechanical systems, boilers and fuel-burning appliances, contact SaskEnergy or another qualified gas utility or technician to inspect the building’s gas systems, and take adequate action to protect the health and safety of the residents..

According to the statement, as a result of the defendant’s negligence, Hills and Losco have suffered loss and damages in amounts to be proven at trial.

The claim seeks damages for Hills and Losco like bereavement, funeral, burial and memorial expenses for their son, medical expenses incurred as a result of the incident, grief counseling, psychological treatment, and therapy expenses.

A statement of defence has not yet been made by any of the parties named as defendants, in response to the claims.
