Five people were arrested Wednesday by investigators from the Sûreté du Québec’s (SQ) Personal Crimes Investigation Unit in connection with the murder of Sid-Ahmed Moualek, which occurred in Montreal in the spring of 2025. On April 28, a 22-year-old man was assaulted in the common area of Bordeaux Prison in Montreal. Moualek was then transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries about ten days later. The individuals who were arrested are expected to appear via videoconference on Thursday at the Montreal courthouse, the SQ said Wednesday in a press release. Each individual will be interviewed by investigators and could face several charges, including first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and aiding and abetting. The investigation into this case is ongoing, and the SQ is asking anyone with information to contact the police force’s Criminal Information Center.
