Montreal police (SPVM) is investigating after two businesses in the LaSalle borough were set on fire early Monday morning. The force received a 911 call at 3:45 a.m. about a fire at a bar on Dollard Avenue near Chartrand Street. The same Voodoo Lounge was shot at in August. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they were informed of a second blaze at another bar about 250 m away, near Lithuania Street. Montreal police notes damage to the two establishments was minor. “The suspects are believed to have arrived in a vehicle, smashed a shop window before throwing an incendiary object and fleeing,” said Véronique Dubuc, a spokesperson with Montreal police. There were no reported injuries. A security perimeter has been established to allow investigators to canvass the scenes. Officers note that the two cases share similarities, and the file has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad.
