1 injured, 1 arrested after stabbing in Montreal’s Village

A 21-year-old man is in hospital after a stabbing in Montreal’s Village Wednesday night.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 10 p.m. about an incident involving “several individuals” on the corner of Sainte-Catherine and Montcalm streets.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located the victim.

“He was injured to the upper body with a sharp object,” said Manuel Couture, a spokesperson with Montreal police.

Officers also pursued a suspect, who had fled on foot upon their arrival.

“He was arrested not far from the scene,” said Couture. “He had to be subdued with a stun gun.”

The two were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

A security perimeter was established to allow investigators to canvass the scene.
