A teen is facing charges after an unprovoked attack on a woman in Mill Woods last month. The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) says a 24-year-old woman was walking home in the area of Knottwood Road and Mill Woods Road around 10:48 p.m. on May 11 when she was approached by a man she did not know and stabbed. Her attacker ran away from the scene. The woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. On June 8 a 19-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assault with a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. “We are thankful that the woman who was attacked did not sustain life-threatening injuries and that we were able to successfully locate and arrest the male suspect,” Const. Andrew Jarvis said in a news release. “Everyone has a right to be safe in our city, and we will continue to work closely with members of the public to investigate reported concerns, alongside our proactive policing efforts that are focused on maintaining safety in our shared spaces.” Anyone with video footage of the assault is asked to contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
