Woman suffers non-life-threatening injuries in Sarnia park stabbing

Sarnia police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect after they say a woman was stabbed in Centennial Park on Monday afternoon.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the park at 4:37 p.m. on Monday, following a report of a stabbing.

Police said officers located the female victim near the end of George Street suffering from a wound to the back of her upper arm.

Patrol officers and the canine unit searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect who they say fled before officers arrived.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have not identified a suspect and are appealing to the public for information.

Police described the suspect as a white man between 40 and 50 years old, about five feet 11 inches tall. He was last seen wearing long shorts, a dark shirt and a black baseball cap.

According to police, the suspect was seen fleeing northbound from the Centennial Park gazebo area toward nearby train tracks.

Investigators are asking anyone who lives in the area or was in or near Centennial Park around the time of the incident to review any photos or videos taken between 4:15 p.m. and 5 p.m.
