Two men, including one from the United Kingdom, have been charged following a large drug bust in Weyburn, Sask. The Weyburn Police Service (WPS) announced the arrests on Monday. On July 17, investigators arrested a 30-year-old Weyburn man and a 50-year-old man from the United Kingdom while executing search warrants at a home and a hotel room in the community. Officers seized around 4.3 kilograms of suspected opium, around $4,000 in Canadian currency and more evidence related to the importation and trafficking of drugs. The accused from Weyburn faces six drug-related charges including the possession, trafficking and importation of opium in addition to smuggling. The 50-year-old from the United Kingdom faces possession and trafficking charges and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Both men made their first appearances in Weyburn Provincial Court on Monday. WPS noted its investigation was supported by the Winnipeg Police Service and the Canadian Border Services Agency.
