Adonis, a Quebec-based Mediterranean store, opened its first London franchise on Thursday. The store is a source of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern products, and staff say the store carries food from all over the world. “So, for us, we cater to everyone,” said Yaseen Hussein, purchasing and merchandising director. Through a partnership with Metro grocery chain, the company is expanding into Ontario. This is Ontario’s fifth Adonis location. The market is located at Wonderland Road near Wharncliffe, choosing London because of rapid growth in the area and increasing interest in Mediterranean culture. London’s population has grown by over 19,000 people from July 2023 to July 2024, according to Statistics Canada. The store has brought 150 jobs to the area, opening almost a month after the neighbouring Goodwill. - With files from CTV London’s Gerry Dewan
