Sunshine and warm temperatures return to southwestern Ontario

Beautiful spring weather continues before showers move in. Julie Atchison has the latest forecast

Sunshine and warming temperatures are expected across southwestern Ontario, with cooler conditions lingering along the Lake Huron shoreline, according to CTV News meteorologist Julie Atchison.

Most inland communities saw highs climbing into the upper teens and low twenties Wednesday afternoon, while temperatures near Lake Huron remained in the single digits due to cool air coming off the lake.

“At the shoreline of Lake Huron, it’s quite cool with the air coming off the lake,” Atchison said.

Clear skies are expected to continue overnight, with temperatures dipping to about 7 C in London. Kitchener-Waterloo and Mount Forest are forecast to drop to between 1 C and 2 C, but temperatures are expected to remain above freezing.

Sunshine is forecast to dominate again Thursday, with only some cloud cover possible in Essex County as a stalled weather boundary remains south of the Great Lakes.

Dry conditions are expected to continue until late Friday, when a weather system is forecast to move in from Michigan. Showers are expected to arrive in the London area Friday evening and continue into Saturday.

Friday is expected to remain warm, with a forecast high near 20 C and southeast winds, before temperatures dip slightly into the weekend. Additional showers are possible Saturday and Sunday.

A mix of sun and cloud is forecast for Monday, with daytime highs of 16 C to 17 C. There is also a chance of nighttime rain and scattered showers on Tuesday.

Atchison encouraged residents to enjoy the current stretch of sunny weather.

“Enjoy that sunshine and get out and soak up some vitamin D,” she said
