Warmup underway but plenty of rainfall and cloud cover in the forecast

CTV News Meteorologist Gary Archibald has your London and area weekend forecast.

A warmup is underway across the region, but with warmer spring temperatures come cloudy, rainy days.

“Temperatures coincide with areas of low pressure, and with that warm air rising, condensing out into clouds that produce rain,” said CTV News Meteorologist Gary Archibald. “We’re seeing this warm surge, not just in the Great Lakes region. The prairies are certainly rebounding. That bodes well for sustained warmth.”

Looking ahead to the weekend, Archibald says by Sunday, we could see temperatures in the low 20s.

And the warmup continues in the extended forecast.

“The warmth and significant warm up Sunday into Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Even a week from now, Friday is warm and above seasonal,” said Archibald.

Saturday: Sunny. Wind northwest 20 km/h becoming light late in the morning. High 10. Wind chill minus 7 in the morning. UV index 6 or high.

Sunday: Showers. High 16.

Monday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of showers. Windy. High 23.

Tuesday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of showers. High 20.

Wednesday: Cloudy. High 21.
