Smoke filled the sky east of London Wednesday as a drive shed went up in flames near Thamesford. John Smulders watched his father build the shed 45 years ago. “Alot of a lot of memories you know, and I helped them do that. So yeah, it’s a loss,” he said. He told CTV News he’s just grateful fire crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings, and douse propane tanks in a nearby trailer. “I said, oh, by the way, there’s a trailer at the back with propane tanks for them. So I said, you guys best to get around there, get them cooled down and get them out of there because there’ll be a massive explosion,” said Smulders. The building was insured, but the contents were not, so Smulders said his only option will be to sell the metal for scrap.
