Massive police presence in Aylmer, Ont. for investigation

A multi-hour investigation in Aylmer, Ont. has been resolved, according to local police.

Early Saturday morning, neighbours said police converged on Cedar Street between Chestnut Street West and Walnut Street.

Police were asking citizens to “please avoid the area” and there was “no threat to public safety”.

Neighbours counted nine police cruisers, while others said the St. Thomas Police K9 unit was brought in, and the dog was searching the area.

The Aylmer Police investigation included assistance from St. Thomas Police Service, Aylmer Fire Department, and OPP.

Just after 12 p.m., police said the matter was resolved and “there was never a threat to the public’s safety”.

The road is no longer closed.

Police have not released any more details.
