Man charged after breaking into London business and assaulting an officer

A London man has been charged after breaking into a downtown business and assaulting an officer.

The 35-year-old man broke into a business in the 400 block of York Street on May 26 at approximately 12:30 a.m. An employee working at the time observed an unknown man enter the locked building through a broken window.

Police responded to the situation and arrested the male west of the business, finding stolen property belonging to the building. Once the male was brought back to the Headquarters Detention Unit, he began to resist and assaulted one of the officers, who sustained minor injuries. He also threated the officer with death.

The suspect has been charged with break enter and theft, assault of a peace officer and uttering threats of death or bodily harm, after attending court on May 26 in relation to the charges.
