Man arrested from hotel unit in south London as part of intimate partner violence investigation

One man was taken into custody after police removed him for a motel unit.

Aylmer police say the accused in an intimate partner violence investigation was arrested by London police at a south London hotel Tuesday afternoon.

At around 12 p.m., police were seen gathered around a unit on the south side of a motel complex on Wellington Street.

A police light armoured vehicle, canine unit and members of the emergency response unit were all on scene.

Shortly after 1 p.m., police were seen taking a man into custody.

A dog was also taken from the unit by officers using riot shields and dog catcher poles.

According to Aylmer police, the arrest was in relation to an investigation into a serious incident involving intimate partner violence where the victim sustained significant injuries.

“The individual has known connections to the Toronto area and a documented history of violent criminal behaviour. The accused appeared in court and has since been remanded into custody,” said Aylmer police in a statement.
