Westbound Highway 402 reopens after fatal crash at Bluewater Bridge claims life of London resident

A 60-year-old individual from London has died following a collision at Sarnia’s Bluewater Bridge Wednesday morning.

According to a news release from Lambton County OPP, Point Edward Fire & Rescue, EMS, and police attended the scene at the westbound toll booths at the Bluewater Bridge just after 8 a.m. Wednesday following reports of a crash.

A 60-year-old individual from London was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Multiple lanes at the Bluewater Bridge remained closed for most of the day while police investigated, causing major delays at the border. Police reopened the roadway shortly after 8 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation by Lambton OPP and the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Team.

Police say additional information will be provided when available.

The cause of the crash and the number of cars or people involved in the crash remain unclear at this time.
