London police seek suspects after targeted shooting at south-end home

London police are investigating after they say a gunshot was fired at a home in the city’s south end early Tuesday morning.

Around 4 a.m., residents were outside a home on Julie Crescent when they heard what sounded like a single gunshot. Around 5:15 a.m., one of the occupants discovered what appeared to be a bullet hole in the garage door and contacted police.

“A firearm discharged in a residential neighbourhood places innocent community members at risk,” said Det. Sgt. Jon Meinen of the LPS Guns and Gangs Section.

“In this case, several people were outside and inside the home when the shot was fired. Gun violence has no place in our community, and we remain committed to identifying those responsible, disrupting violent crime, and removing illegal firearms from our streets.”

Officers attended and confirmed that a firearm had been discharged. No injuries were reported.

With the help of video surveillance footage, investigators learned that at approximately 3:45 a.m., a newer-model dark Honda entered the area from Deveron Crescent.

According to police, the driver got out of the vehicle on foot before a gunshot was heard. The suspect then ran back to the vehicle and fled southbound on Julie Crescent before turning eastbound onto Deveron Crescent.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have information related to the incident to come forward. Anyone who was in the area between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. and has residential or business surveillance footage, dash-cam video, or cellphone recordings is asked to contact police.
