LHSC celebrates 150 years of health care in London

The London Health Sciences Centre is celebrating an important milestone.

Officials at London Health Sciences Centre celebrated 150 years of community health care Friday.

The anniversary was marked at both the Victoria and university campuses.

Formalized health care in London began in 1875 when the London General Hospital opened on South Street.

Local leaders noted the city’s health care sites have been home to more than 80 Canadian and world firsts in research, medicine, and teaching.
