Kincardine hospital entering next phase of $79 million upgrade

Kincardine’s Hospital is entering the next phase of a multi-year, multi-million dollar redevelopment project.

The Ministry of Health has given approval to move towards more detailed planning, the final stage before construction.

Since 2018, millions of dollars in improvements have been made to Kincardine’s Hospital. The biggest ticket item was a CT Scanner, and accompanying addition, back in 2023.

The next phase of redeveloping the hospital will involve a totally revamped and expanded Emergency Department, an addition for an M.R.I machine, along with redeveloped labs, lobbies and loading docks.

Kincardine’s Hospital redevelopment is expected to cost $79 million.

The province is covering most of that bill, but the community is expected to raise $18 million, which $12 million has been raised to date.

“Seeing Ministry of Health approvals secured is incredibly exciting for our community,” said Becky Fair, Kincardine Hospital Foundation President.

“We are now entering the final stretch of our campaign. The community has already shown tremendous generosity, and together we can raise the remaining $6 million to bring this project to life,” she continues.

The expanded Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory spaces will be nearly three times larger than current facilities, designed to meet the needs of patients today and for generations to come, say hospital officials.
