Highway 4 reopens in Huron County after daylong police investigation into fatal crash

One person has died, and another was airlifted to a local trauma centre, after a crash in Huron County.

Police were dispatched to the area of Highway 4/Richmond Street at Huron Park Road/Whalen Line around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, after a mini van and a tractor-trailer collided.

A 36 year old from Ayr was pronounced deceased at the scene and a 31 year old from Goderich was airlifted to a trauma centre with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was not physically injured.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid.

Highway 4 south of Exeter was closed from Crediton Road to Mount Carmel Drive for several hours while police investigated. It reopened around 4 p.m.
