Highway 4 reopened following fatal Friday crash

One person has died and a second was airlifted to hospital after a two-vehicle crash north of Exeter.

According to OPP, the incident between a car and an SUV happened on Highway 4 at Hurondale Road happened just before 6 a.m. on Friday. The lone driver of the car, a 57-year-old Bluewater resident, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the SUV had serious injuries and was transported to a London hospital.

Huron OPP Const. Craig Soldan told CTV News police efforts were hindered by a passerby who tampered with the scene.

“There was an individual that arrived shortly after the collision and starting removing debris away from the collision and we want to make sure people do not do that. That is important information for us, when we need to rebuild the collision and figure out what happened,” said Soldan.

Highway 4 was closed in both directions in the area of Hurondale Road but has since reopened.

The cause of the collision continues to be investigated.
