Double digit temperatures are once again in the forecast for this week, but Londoners will first need to go through about bout of bitterly cold weather come Tuesday. “We do have a low-pressure system that’s approaching the area,” said CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. “It will bring a push of cold as we head through the overnight and temperatures are going to drop off.” Atchison says a few showers are in the forecast Monday afternoon with a high of 5 C. There is a chance of rain showers or flurries going into the evening hours, with a 60 per cent chance of flurries overnight. “Don’t put your winter jackets away just yet,” she said. “You’ll need them in the morning.” Bitterly cold temperatures will be the main weathermaker Monday night into Tuesday with an overnight low of – 5 C, feeling like – 12 with the wind chill. As people head out the door Tuesday, make sure to dress warmly as the daytime high will only peak at – 1 C, but will feel like – 13 in the morning and – 7 in the afternoon with the wind chill. The day will start off cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries, but the sun will come out later in the day. Atchison says there will be a shift in the weather come Wednesday, with warmer temperatures expected due to a Pacific flow developing with the jet stream. “That will bring in some milder temperatures on Wednesday with mainly sunny skies,” she said. Temperatures dramatically increase Wednesday, with a high of 9 C and plenty of sunshine. The rest of the week will see a mix of sunshine, cloud and rainfall, but temperatures will be in the double digits, ranging from 10 C – 18 C. “So, we’re on a ride with our temperature tomorrow dropping below freezing, but we will start to warm up as we head toward the weekend,” Atchison said.
