Delay for city’s microshelter project

A microshelter project for homeless Londoners on Cheese Factory Road is facing delays

Officials projected the site’s opening in mid January as recently as the end of December, however the opening was bumped Friday, with the city citing temperature fluctuations as a significant factor.

The recent freeze thaw conditions, in combination with rain and snow has caused the ground to become unstable.

The purchase of the 60 modular shelters cost the city roughly $1.2 million, with budget for operations set at $7 million through April 2027.

No new opening date has yet been set.
