Parts of the region are under both a snowsquall warning and a cold warning as winter weather continues to grip the region. Snow squalls off Lake Huron are expected to impact Lambton, Huron, Bruce and grey counties. “Snow squalls this afternoon affecting areas like Clinton, Goderich, Exeter. You can see this band of snow coming right through Huron County in this snow band upwards of 15 centimeters of snow and blowing snow. This snow squall has also been impacting parts of London through the day today,{” said CTV News London metorologist Julie Atchison. The cold warning is also in effect for London, Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin counties. “We had record amounts of snowfall in parts of southern Ontario over the weekend, topping the list, Toronto breaking a record the most snow they’ve ever received. Toronto City Centre [received] 56 centimeters, London 17 centimeters, in and around St Thomas [received] close to 20 plus centimeters of snow,” Atchison added. A portion of Highway 402 is closed with OPP reporting black ice. The eastbound lanes are closed from Wonderland road to Highway 401 with the ice being reported on many highways and roadways throughout Middlesex County. OPP are reporting slick and snow covered highways in the region and are asking drivers to slow down and drive according to the weather conditions.
