Charges laid in crash that claimed life of London, Ont. doctor

Charges have been laid in the case of a fatal head-on collision that claimed the life of a beloved doctor in the city’s north end last month.

As previously reported by CTV News, shortly before 8:25 a.m. on Oct. 21, emergency crews responded to the area of Fanshawe Park Road West and Pinnacle Parkway for a head-on collision.

Police say the driver of the one of the vehicles, an adult male, was transported to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries but later succumbed to those injuries.

He was later identified as 62-year-old Dr. Agron Alija, a beloved emergency room physician who worked in London.

On Tuesday, the London Police Service announced charges had been laid in connection to the fatal head-on crash.

As a result of the investigation, Andrew Clark, 43, of London has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement:

• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death
• Race motor vehicle – perform a stunt – excessive speed

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear in London court on Dec. 22, 2025, in relation to the charges.
