Devon White enters Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame

Thursday marks a major milestone for former Blue Jays player Devon White, nicknamed “Devo,” now officially inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

“Welcome to the Hall of Fame, Devon,” said Scott Crawford, director of operations of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

White was born in Jamaica and played 17 seasons in the MLB, winning seven Gold Gloves and two back-to-back World Series titles with the Jays.

“‘92 of course we won it, ‘93 we won it, so you know it’s a long chain you might say of success and memory in Toronto,” said White.

The former centre fielder took a moment to look back at the early days of his career.

“The thing I remember from Edmonton is those big mosquitos,” said Whyte.

He also reflected on how it feels to be a 2026 inductee.

“Canada is my second home, the city is so diverse, and I love being there with family there and being in the Hall of Fame now is a big circle that came right together for me and I’m so ecstatic about it,” said White.

Today, White still spends time with his Blue Jays family.

“Currently he works as a special assistant to player development within the Blue Jays organization,” said Crawford.

Joining him in this year’s Hall of Fame class are Stubby Clapp, Kate Psota, Bill Stoneman, Paul Runge, and Jim Baba.

The class will be honoured in a ceremony at the Hall of Fame grounds in St. Marys on June 20.
