An Aylmer resident has been fined $3,000 in an unlawful deer hunt. On Dec. 3, 2025, a conservation officer saw the man during the muzzle-loading guns only controlled deer hunt in Bayham, Elgin County, around 20 minutes after the legal hunting ended. The officer conducted an inspection and found the man’s gun was loaded, no encased, and he didn’t have a valid controlled deer hunt validation. The Ministry of Natural Resources said the man’s deer tag was at camp and used the day before by another person on a deer harvested during the controlled deer hunt. The deer and the gun were seized during inspection. The man pleaded guilty to unlawfully hunting deer during a controlled deer hunt, unlawfully possessing a firearm at night, and enabling another individual to unlawfully use his deer tag.
