83-year-old driver injured in crash with water tanker dies of injuries

An 83-year-old woman who was seriously injured in a collision with a water tanker nearly one week ago has since died of her injuries, Elgin County OPP said on Thursday.

As previously reported by CTV News, on March 27 at 10:56 a.m., OPP, fire crews and paramedics responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a water tanker truck and sedan at the intersection of Sunset Road and Roberts Line.

The 83-year-old driver of the sedan suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

In an update Thursday, police say the driver has since succumbed to her injuries and died in hospital.

The 48-year-old driver of the water tanker truck was uninjured in the crash.

Elgin County OPP continue to investigate the collision with the assistance of the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team.
