Tee-rific news: Several golf courses in the Edmonton area are open Tuesday for gold and several are planning to open – and re-open – over the coming week after last week’s snowfall. The region around the provincial capital saw between four and 20 cm of snowfall from Thursday to Saturday, preventing some courses from opening for the season and forcing others that had already swung open their gates to close. Courses surrounding the city reported heavy snow last week, including 15 cm at Seba Beach’s Pineridge, similar amounts at Fort Saskatchewan, Fort In View, Strathcona County’s Northern Bear and Ryley’s Coal Creek, and patches of snow on Millet’s Pipestone course. Golf courses welcoming golfers on Tuesday include the northside Cattail Crossing, the city-owned Rundle Park, east-end neighbours The Legends and The Quarry, River Ridge on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River in the city’s southwest, west end’s The Ranch and St. Albert’s Sandpiper. The city said in a Monday morning media release that its three public courses – Rundle Park, Victoria (Wednesday) and Riverside (Monday) will open over the next seven days.
