The Guelph Police Service has a new member, and they are asking the public to help name them.

A one-year-old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix joined the force on April 9. Police did not say what its specific tasks will be, other than “supporting frontline operations and enhancing community safety.” The dog and its handler are expected to start hitting the streets by the end of July once their team training is complete.

Now, the dog needs a name.

The police have put forward two options: Axel or Kilo.

Residents have until April 19 to cast a vote online, and the winner will be announced on the week of April 20.
