Guelph woman arrested following assault at bus shelter

The Guelph Police Service arrested a woman after she allegedly punched another woman in the face at a bus stop.

Police say an 18-year old female victim was sitting at the bus stop Friday morning near the intersection of Willow Road and Silvercreek Parkway North.

The victim was there with a 54-year old woman she knew.

Police say the victim thought she had misplaced an item in the bus shelter and was looking for it while her phone was in her left hand.

However, the other woman confronted the 18-year old, accusing the victim of recording her. Police say she then punched the victim in the face with a closed fist.

The victim left the area to contact police, who later found and arrested the woman in a nearby residential building.

A 54-year old woman from Guelph has been charged with assault.
