Guelph teen charged after alleged assault at mall food court

A 15-year-old Guelph boy has been charged following an alleged assault at a south-end shopping mall.

Guelph Police said officers were called to the food court at Stone Road Mall on Feb. 1 where an employee at a takeout restaurant reported a dispute with a young male.

During the incident, according to police, the suspect allegedly used a racial slur before throwing a plastic tray and other items at the employee.

Police said no injuries were reported.

“Officers recognized the teen from security video,” they said in a media release. “On Sunday, a 15-year-old Guelph boy was arrested for assault with a weapon.”
