Guelph Police are investigating after an employee at a north-end convenience store was assaulted Monday morning. Police were called to a business near Woodlawn Road East and Victoria Road North shortly after 7:30 a.m. Police said a male had entered the store earlier in the morning and attempted to purchase medication, but his payment card was declined. “When the employee declined to provide the item without payment, the male swung his arms over the counter and struck the employee on the forearms,” police said in a media release. “The male left but returned approximately 45 minutes later and again asked for the item without payment. When he was refused, he spat toward the employee and swung at him again before leaving. The employee was not physically injured.” Police describe the suspect as a white man about 35 years old, six feet tall with a slim build. He was reportedly wearing a black jacket and baggy, stained jeans at the time. The investigation remains ongoing.
