Guelph Police Service officers assaulted at downtown bar

A Guelph woman has been charged for assaulting police officers near a downtown bar.

Guelph Police Service officers were called to the unnamed business around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, paramedics were already assessing an intoxicated woman. Police said she repeated pushed one of the officers and when he tried to get control of her, she pulled a held-held microphone from the officer’s vest and hit him with it, leaving behind a cut above his eye.

While she was being arrested, she kicked another officer in the leg.

The 54-year-old woman was charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon, assaulting police and public intoxication.

Once she sobered up, she was released with a court date scheduled for later in the month.
