Guelph Police investigating downtown assault

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a 21-year-old man reported being assaulted by several people following a night out early Friday morning.

Police said the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on MacDonell Street. The man told officers he was inside a restaurant when he became involved in a verbal dispute with a group of males.

“Upon exiting the restaurant, the caller advised that the same individuals followed him and assaulted him outside, resulting in minor injuries,” police said in a media release.
