A young person from Sudbury was airlifted to a hospital in Toronto for treatment April 23 after the electric scooter they were riding collided with a pickup truck in Copper Cliff. Sudbury police said in a news release that officers were called to the scene around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Godfrey Drive and Park Street. “Based on the investigation, it has been determined that a pickup truck was travelling southbound on Godfrey Drive when a youth riding an electric scooter entered the roadway from Park Street,” police said. “The youth sustained serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries and was transported to hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services. The youth was flown to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre by Ornge air ambulance.” The traffic safety unit is investigating the crash, but police said they don’t expect “that charges will be laid.” The roadway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
