What’s happening Labour Day weekend in Waterloo Region and beyond

We’re heading into the last long weekend of the summer. Here are some local events to make the most of the season.

Paris Fair

When: Thursday, Aug. 28 to Monday, Sept. 1

Where: Paris Fairground, 139 Silver St

Watch monster trucks and motocross in action and enjoy some carnival rides at this annual agricultural fair.

Goods Exchange Weekend in Guelph

When: Friday, Aug. 29, 5 p.m. to Monday, Sept. 1, 7 p.m.

Where: Guelph

Residents are encouraged to put their unwanted items at the curb for others to take – for free! Clearly label all items as “FREE” and place them out on your property after 5 p.m. Friday. Take a walk around your community to see what you might need!

Paranormal Cirque IV in Cambridge

When: Friday, Aug. 29 to Monday, Sept. 8

Where: Cambridge Centre (355 Hespeler Road)

Theatre, circus and cabaret – all rolled into one thrilling horror show.

The Hespeler Community Festival in Cambridge

When: Saturday, Aug. 30, 12 p.m. to midnight

Where: Four Fathers Brewing Co., 125 Guelph Ave.

Four Fathers Brewing Co. is throwing a free festival to commemorate their 10-year anniversary. There will be cold beer specials, BBQ and live music over the day-long celebration.

Rangers Fan Fest in Kitchener

When: Sunday, Aug. 31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, Parking Lot A, 400 East Ave.

This free fan festival features family-friendly carnival rides, plus a chance to meet your favourite Kitchener Rangers players.

Brantford & District Labour Council Soap Box Derby

When: Monday, Sept. 1, 9 a.m.

Where: Elgin Street between Stanley and Rawdon Streets

Compete against other racers at the 69th annual soap box derby.

Waterloo Labour Day Picnic

When: Monday, Sept. 1, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Waterloo Park, 100 Father David Bauer Dr. (near Westmound Road entrance)

The Waterloo Regional Labour Council hosts a community picnic with food, live music and a carnival. Proceeds go towards charity.
