From firework displays to unique festivals, here’s a list of activities and events you can attend if you’re looking for something to do during the Victoria Day long weekend.

Fibre Arts Festival

WEFTFest hosts its third annual Fibre Arts Festival. Fibre enthusiasts, artisans and the community are invited to take part in the celebration and learn about local guilds, vote on their favourite quilt and explore the group of artists who sell art, fashion designs and supplies.

Friendly competition at the museum

Compete in various board games and relay races while also exploring various galleries at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum on May 19 at 11 a.m. There’s also fun for little ones with face painting and wiggle cars.

Take in some poetry

The Guelph Poetry Slam happens on the third Saturday of every month, and this month is no different. Enjoy original poetry at Which Craft on May 17. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Clean up the city

Keep The Earth Fresh Cleanups in Waterloo is a group that meets every Sunday to help clean up the city. They will meet again on May 18 at 12 p.m. Supplies are provided if you RSVP.

Fireworks in New Dundee

Celebrate Victoria Day on May 18 with a firework display at the New Dundee Community Centre.

Watch the Kitchener Panthers in action

The Panthers will have a home game against the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers at the Jack Couch Ball Park in Kitchener on May 18. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.

See some pretty pooches

The Kitchener Memorial Auditorium is hosting the KW All-Breed Championship Dog Show from May 17 to 19. Meet hundreds of purebred dogs and watch the All-Breed Rally Obedience Trials on the last day.
