Weber and Victoria intersection closes for month of construction work

Drivers in Kitchener’s north end saw some big changes in traffic patterns Monday morning.

The intersection of Weber and Victoria streets was closed before rush hour.

It’ll stay shuttered until Aug. 15 as part of the project to widen Weber to four lanes between College and Union streets.

The work includes constructing an underpass to carry the road below the train tracks in the vicinity of Victoria.

After the intersection reopens, Weber will remain closed between Victoria and Wellington streets until Sept. 12.

Transportation planners suggest drivers detour along Wellington, Duke, Water and Lancaster streets as necessary to get around the construction.
