Police investigating bones discovered near Barrie’s downtown

Police were called after the discovery was made this afternoon but say its too early to tell if they are human remains.

Barrie police are investigating after bones were discovered in the area of Berczy Street and Penetang Street on Friday afternoon.

In a social media post made shortly after 2 p.m., police said officers were on scene following the finding close to Barrie’s downtown.

Officers say it remains too early in the investigation to determine whether the bones are human remains.

Police note there will be an ongoing presence in the area as officers work to gather more information.
