OPP investigating a sudden death in northern Ontario

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a sudden death. Paramedics were called to a home on Bowman Avenue in Kapuskasing where a person was in distress.

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a sudden death following a medical distress call earlier this week in the Town of Kapuskasing.

Police say the incident unfolded on the evening of June 1.

OPP said officers, along with Cochrane District Services Board Paramedic Services, were called to a residence on Bowman Avenue at approximately 10 p.m.

“An individual was transported to hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased,” OPP said in a news release Friday.

Agencies involved

The ongoing investigation is being conducted under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

OPP Forensic Identification Services is also assisting investigators.

Provincial police have not released any details about the identity of the victim or the cause of death.
