Two people injured in house fire in Kitchener

A fire at a home on Oldfield Drive caused approximately $300,000 in damage.

Two people had minor burns from a house fire in Kitchener.

Kitchener Fire crews were called to Oldfield Drive near Ottawa Street North and Lackner Boulevard on Tuesday just before 5 p.m. According to the city, the fire started in an attached garage and spread into the attic of the home.

The damage to the garage is considered to be extensive. Officials believe the fire caused approximately $300,000 worth of damage to the building.

Two residents were minorly burned and were assessed for smoke inhalation. One person was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious.
